Who Am I?
Hello. I’m Jared Woods.
I like to make people think about work.
For a long time, I’ve worked to help companies understand employer branding, and employment marketing. For me, the strength of a company’s ability to attract, engage and retain talent is a fundamental commercial asset. Creating an employee value proposition, and by extension a reputation as an employer that stacks up to the experience of employees every day, is a great challenge, and helps a company to define what sort of people are successful, valuable hires.
I’ve worked on small accounts and huge accounts in my time in agencies, and I’m now in-house working for an engineering firm, helping them understand how to identify, attract and keep the talented people we’ll need to expand and achieve a lasting success.
I’m a bit of a heretic – I don’t believe in doing things unless they can be proven to work. I don’t take much on faith, I like to change things to make them better, and I think bold solutions are always better than compromise. I talk too much, blog too little and still believe that spelling, grammar and understanding punctuation are important.
I’m a dedicated social media user and a keen photographer. I own a cat, I live in South Yarra. I can swing dance and was on Double Dare once as a kid. I’m also a media strategist, a video-gamer, a book devourer and a musical stop-out.
